Articles: Table Mountain

In 2012 Table Mountain was voted as one of the new seven wonders of the world. In South Africa we texted like crazy and all interested parties pushed hard to get our mountain on the world rankings! We were abuzz with excitement that such an award could be possible. We were all suitably amazed that we actually achieved this prestige honour after jostling for position with so many other worthwhile wonders.
It is now early in 2013 and taking stock of the current acclaim that our Mountain was awarded, it seems that locally we have slipped back into the complacency that existed before all of that excitement.
"The mountain? Oh! Sure. No, I have never been up. Can you actually climb/walk up? Isn't
it only for young people? Restaurant on top, Go on!! The cable car turns 360 degrees and you
can go up free on your birthday? Really!"
"Yes well, that's all for tourists, but I suppose I'll do it some day".
Our Wonder of the world has many walking trails, from leisurely to challenging. It is covered with the most amazing variety of fynbos. The cable car can race you to the top and you can take a leisurely walk, or trip, down. Views from the top are forever.
Wake up locals lets give our Wonder the acclaim and attention that it deserves!
